Each project is it's own undertaking, no one comparable to another. Whether talking about a body of original work prices range and reflect the amount of time, painstaking effort, skill, passion, materials, and former experience and education which are all calculated as they all have value that help form a reasonable pricing range that reflects these factors and many more. With Commissioning it works differently certainly as that is dependent on the scope, vision, scale and needs of the client and typically a price is loosely bid upon initial examination of the project, and then a friendly and reasonable  price is worked out between myself and the client reflecting both parties needs/budget/etc ensuring everyone feeling that they are satisfied!
